What is gdrfa application?
Dubai residents who are returning to Dubai have to file for the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) applications. Dubai residence visa holders travelling from restricted countries need to apply for GDRFA approval along with an approval for ICA.
How to apply for GDRFA Application Online?
You can apply for the GDRFA approval via the GDRFA online portal. You have to enter the Resident File Number. You can find this number on your visa under the File section.
To apply, you will need your passport, visa, and Emirates ID. Once the application is successfully approved, you will receive an email with the GDRFA reference number.
How to gdrfa approval status check online?
You can check the approval status of the GDRFA application online at the https://www.gdrfad.gov.ae/en website.
How to get a return permit for resident outside uae?
You can log into the GDRFA website from outside UAE and click on the Entry Permits Services option. Then, you can click on the Request Residency Entry Permit and complete the procedure to apply for it.
Do I need an ICA or GDRFA approval to come back to the UAE?
If you are coming back to the UAE from restricted countries and are a Dubai residence visa holder, then you need ICA and GDRFA approval both. Other residence visa holders don’t require GDRFA approval.
It is also essential that people are fully vaccinated and have undergone RT-PCR test recently and had negative test result.
Can I enter UAE with expired residence visa?
No, you have to apply for new visa to enter UAE. However, GCC and citizens of select countries can opt for receiving their visa upon arrival.
